Product information

Onsior offers pain relief that's powerful enough for dogs yet gentle enough for cats. Developed from the start for use in companion animals and available in a convenient range of formulations, Onsior is the first and only COXIB for both cats and dogs, persists longer at the site of inflammation than in the bloodstream, and offers an excellent safety and tolerability profile.

COX-2 selectivity

While traditional NSAIDs inhibit both COX-1 and COX-2, Onsior is a COXIB, which means it's more highly selective of COX-2 compared to COX-1:

  • It targets COX-2 to relieve pain.
  • It spares COX-1 to promote gastrointestinal kidney and platelet functions.

Tissue selectivity

Onsior offers rapid onset of pain relief combined with unique tissue selectivity. Onsior concentrates at the site of inflammation where it's needed to treat pain — and remains there for much longer than it does in blood. Mean concentrations of Onsior are also much higher in inflammatory exudates than in blood.

Safety and tolerability

In animal safety studies conducted on healthy animals, Onsior has demonstrated no signs of toxicity, including no evidence of gastrointestinal, kidney, or liver toxicity — even at high doses. Onsior has no effect on bleeding times and also demonstrates no detrimental effects on cartilage or joints in dogs.
