Tissue selectivity

Robenacoxib concentration in the blood peaks rapidly — in about 30 minutes for Onsior tablets and 1 hour for Onsior injectable solution — providing fast onset of pain relief for both cats and dogs.1 Subsequently, robenacoxib moves through and exits the blood quickly, persisting at the site of inflammation where it is most beneficial.

Robenacoxib exits the blood quickly but remains in inflamed tissue

Robenacoxib quickly concentrates at the site of inflammation where it's needed to treat pain — and remains there for much longer than it does in blood. Mean concentrations of robenacoxib are also much higher in inflammatory exudates than in blood, signaling that a short blood half-life does not result in a shortened period of efficacy.

  • Robenacoxib reached 2.93 times higher mean concentrations in inflammatory exudate than in blood (in vivro study performed in rats).4
  • Robenacoxib persisted 3 times longer in inflammation than in blood (in vivro study performed in rats).4

Cats: Robenacoxib concentrations in blood and inflammatory exudate5

Dogs: Robenacoxib concentrations in blood and inflamed synovial fluid6
